Out of Control

Ini adalah lagu kelima yang ada di album pertama U2, Boy.
Dari keseluruhan track list lagu yang dibawakan U2 di konser Slane Castle yang kupunyai DVDnya, lagu Out of Control ini adalah salah satu yang paling kusuka.
Kalau menurutku, emosi lagu ini menyalak-nyalak ditingkahi dengan predato Bono (pada konser tersebut) mengenang masa-masa awal pendirian U2 dimana ia sempat meminjam uang 500 pounds pada
ayahnya (atau ayah Larry Mullen Jr ??!?? maaf bahasa Inggris yang diucapkan Bono waktu disitu susah kucerna) untuk biaya rekaman.

Lagu ini awalnya terdapat dalam single yang direlease hanya di Irlandia, 1979 dengan nama U23 yang juga berisi dua lagu lainnya yaitu “Stories for Boys” dan “Boy Girl”.
Single yang hanya dicetak 1000 buah ini sekarang menjadi buruan kolektor pecinta U2 karena langkanya.

Out of Control kurang lebih bercerita tentang kehidupan akil balik, dimana pada akhirnya seseorang harus menyadari bahwa pada tahap tersebut kehidupan yang sebenarnya harus mulai dipikirkan
secara lebih serius. Hal ini sesuai dengan yang diungkapkan Bono yang dikatakan pada Oktober 1979, Hot Press:

“Out Of Control is about waking up on your eighteenth birthday and realizing that youre 18 years old and that the 2 most important decisions in your life have nothing to
do with you – being born and dying.”
